An exciting opportunity is available for a High School Guidance Counselor with a teaching assignment at our Senior School division in Florence, Italy. This role is pivotal in providing guidance for course selection, facilitating university and college applications, and supporting student pathway planning. The candidate will also be integral in timetable construction, managing the learning management system, and ensuring the alignment of report cards with Ontario ministry standards.
Key Responsibilities:
• Guide students in selecting courses that align with their educational and career goals.
• Assist students with university and college applications, including advising on requirements and deadlines.
• Support students in mapping out their academic and career pathways.
• Develop and manage the school's timetable in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team.
• Operate and maintain the learning management system to track and support student academic progress.
• Coordinate the publication of report cards, ensuring they meet Ontario ministry requirements.
• Teach classes related to the candidate’s area of expertise, making up about 30% of the job responsibilities.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Teaching, preferably from an Ontario institution, or an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ontario College of Teachers.
• Qualification in guidance counseling, with a strong background in student advising and post-secondary application processes.
• Experience in educational planning, including timetable management and learning management systems.
• Proven ability to work effectively with students, parents, and staff in a multicultural educational environment.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Fluent in English, with proficiency in other languages considered an asset.
